Soft Skills

The more job-specific hard skills are typically a focus, but one can’t forget about soft skills. There is a lot I can bring to a role that is outside of technical expertise.

Logic, Reason, and Analysis:

Part of this is just how my brain naturally is, and some comes from my strong interest in philosophy and the sciences. I also enjoy puzzles.

Speaking and Presentation:

I can speak on calls and present information. This seems odd as I tend to be quiet much of the time. That’s only when I have nothing to say though. When I have information to present, I have no problem doing so, and in fact, I do it quite well.

Teaching and Relaying Information:

I excel at teaching, and actually have to consciously resist doing an info-dump on subjects of interest. I’ve learned how to break it down into digestible segments for a target audience.

Explaining Complicated Concepts to Anyone:

This is important in my line of work. Technical people tend to have this to some degree. My abilities go well beyond that though. My use of examples, analogies, and descriptive language are key, as are many years of experience.

Ability to Learn:

I learn well on my own and can amass a great deal of knowledge on subjects of interest.

Writing and Creativity:

I’m hoping my website provides a demonstration of these things.
