Summary
With my extensive array of skills and long years of experience, I can do many different things for you. I will go over some general scenarios here. The way I think about interconnecting pieces of technology and my experience working in large, complex environments, makes me uniquely suited to understanding your environment end to end, including pieces that I’m not going to be directly supporting. I know newer cloud technologies, and also have prior experience with legacy technologies, and in many cases, know how to migrate between them. I have supported application stacks on bare metal and virtual machines, middleware, clustering technologies, load balancing, DNS, automation software, and more. Having significant knowledge in a wide range of technical areas, in addition to my core expertise, allows me to interface more effectively with other teams; I know what they do and speak their “language”. You get the idea. The following scenarios are just general examples, and far from an exhaustive list.
Managing and Migrating Legacy Tech
I have experience in many legacy technologies, which I can manage an support. I also have experience migrating from these technologies to newer ones. I can also integrate legacy on premises with cloud.
Mentoring and Team Leading
I have a lot of knowledge, and the ability to pass it on to others. I’m frequently the go-to person when there are questions. I can also manage and coordinate a technical team on completing a project.
Driving Issues to Resolution
I have many years of experience being the person brought in to resolve, complex, high stakes issues. I’ll be the one working on the primary piece of it. The problem assessment in the reports from several departments is from me, as is the resolution notification. I’m used to being on the hook to analyze a root cause and explain it to stakeholders. Frequently, I coordinate the people working on other pieces of it too.
Even better than resolving issues, I have the knowledge and expertise to prevent problems from cropping up in the first place. I have an eye for exacting detail to fix things correctly and permanently the first time. I can make recommendations to keep your systems, and your business, running smoothly.
Learning a New Technology and Becoming the SME
Countless times in my career I have learned a new technology. Including small things, it’s almost on a daily basis. Larger ones are less frequent, but still often enough. Many times I’ve thoroughly learned something, I become the subject matter expert on it for the company. New solutions to business problems present themselves all the time. I can take on one of these new solutions, and ultimately integrate it into the existing infrastructure.
